A Brief History of the Omega Speedmaster
From racing tracks to the moon. Tracing the evolution of the most famous chronograph in the world.
1957: The Beginning
The first Speedmaster, reference CK2915, was designed for racing drivers, not astronauts. It featured the famous 'Broad Arrow' hands and a steel bezel.
1965: NASA Qualification
NASA tested chronographs from Rolex, Longines, and Omega. The Speedmaster was the only one to survive the torture tests (temperature, vibration, vacuum).
1969: The Moonwatch
On July 21, 1969, Buzz Aldrin wore his Speedmaster Professional (ref 105.012) on the lunar surface, cementing its legacy as the 'Moonwatch'.
